Australians!

Monday July 16, 2007

Lisa was really sick and could barely talk on the way to school. She slept all day Sunday and was still not feeling well. Conversation and Grammar were ok. We did a lot as usual. After class I ended up staying at the center from 1 until 7 to get work done. I did talk to a few people online, but other than that I got a lot of work done. I walked home with Randee and Larry. I got home and proceeded to do even more work. We had dinner early again at 9:30 and I was stuffed so I went for a walk. I ended up running into Liz and she invited me to go out with her. We met up with Matt, Ben, Annie, Joe, and 4 Australians. We went to the Plaza De Virgen and all got a drink. The Australians were really cool. They had so many great stories to tell and I really learned a lot about Australia. First of all their minimum wage is really high- over $20.00 an hour and when they travel- they really travel. They were traveling anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. They graduated from college last December and went east. They started in Hawaii, worked their way across the US, spent some time working in England teaching PE and then they were currently in Spain working their way back to Australia. I thought it was so awesome that they get to do that. We all exchanged phrases that were unique to our own countries and after talking to them I really want to visit Australia. Then to top it off we got an old British man to get a picture of all of us. An ordinary day in Valencia turned into a really fun day after running into Australians.
